Guinness World Records have discovered Bobi, who lives in Portugal and is a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, which is a breed of livestock guardian dog with an average life expectancy of 12-14 years.

Bobi was born on 11 May 1992 and is not just the current oldest living dog, he’s now the oldest dog ever!

The previous oldest dog ever, was an Australian cattle-dog named Bluey, who lived from 1910 to 1939 and to be 29 years 5 months old.

Bobi’s diet consists only of human food according to his owner, who spoke to the New York Post.

“What we ate, they ate too,” Leonel, Bobi’s human said. He believes that this has contributed greatly to Bobi’s longevity.

Leonel thinks that one of the biggest contributing factors is the “calm, peaceful environment” Bobi lives in, “far from the cities. Between a can of animal food or a piece of meat, Bobi doesn’t hesitate and chooses our food.”

According to the New York Post “Bobi has regular vet appointments and has always had positive results for his advanced age.”

He is the “last of a long generation of animals” in his family and serves as a reminder to his family of all the relatives that they’ve lost over the years.
