The two-time gold Logie winner and Lego Masters presenter Hamish Blake has been named Australian Father of The Year.
When presented with the award, he said how honoured he was the be named The Fathering Project’s Australian Father of The Year.
The Melbourne native, who now lives in Sydney shares nine-year-old son Sonny, and daughter five-year-old daughter Rudy, with author, skincare founder, and entrepreneur wife Zoë Foster Blake.
Speaking to Perth Now, he said “It’s very humbling and probably a bit odd for my kids who ironically don’t get to vote. To me, this isn’t about winning anything”.
“It’s simply a chance to highlight the amazing opportunity we have as dads, mentors or father figures to help shape the future for our kids.”
Blake being humble as always spoke about the challenges of being a parent to his two children and that he isn’t a perfect dad but his commitment to his kids is unwavering.
“I get it wrong frequently, in ways I’m well aware of. I think it’s healthy to be honest about how much we’re still learning, whilst also knowing how important it is to try just as hard tomorrow.”
“To me, nothing is more important. For me, being present, creating a space for fun and adventure, and being totally accepting of who my kids are as people is what I strive to do.”
