Local Federal Member, Tony Pasin has again called for the State Government to step up assistance for wine grape growers.
The local MP stated “The recent frost event resulted in significant losses for many across the Mallee, Riverland, Barossa and Mid-North and for the South Australian Minister for Primary Production to deny support to wine grape growers in particular is simply ludicrous,”
In recent weeks the Liberal member called for further resourcing for rural financial counselling while the State Government assessed the extent of damage.
Those assessments, using satellite mapping were labelled ‘nothing more than deflection’ by Pasin, who outlined further it was time “Labor showed some compassion for what wine grape growers are going through and provide some tangible support to help keep them in business while the industry transitions.”
