PIRSA are calling on farmers to think about their neighbours when spraying, as many local crops enter important growth stages.

“It is vital that spray operators carefully select the right chemical for the job, taking into account weather conditions and the risk of off-target damage or unacceptable residues affecting neighbouring land, plants or animals” Said Ms Bruce.

Offences for deliberate or negligent use of chemicals carries penalties as high as $35,000 per offence.

Locals can report any incidents, alleged misuse or observed damage to the Spray Drift Hotline 1300 799 684.
