Some local councils have picked up a slice of $21 Million of federal funding for South Australian road projects.

The program is unique to South Australia and enables SA’s near 70 Councils to pool funding to then distribute though a competitive grants process.

Funding for 2024/24 includes $993,000 to complete the third and final stage of the Billiatt Road reconstruction in the District Council of Loxton Waikerie.

This work will work to widen the road from 6.2 metres to 7.6 metres to accommodate increased traffic, including road trains.

Berri Barmera Council also picked up further funding for the repair of Berri’s Riverview Drive after the road was damaged during the 2022/23 summer flood.

Federal Minister for Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Kristy McBain MP said “We know that roads across regional South Australia are not only under more demand than ever, but critical to keeping our supply chains moving – which is why the bulk of this round’s investment is targeting high-priority regional upgrades.”
