Latest figures show national rental affordability is now at its worst level since at least 2008, with regional areas still facing tough conditions.
Proptrack’s latest rental affordability report reveals the median advertised rent across Regional SA has gone up $140 since March 2020 through to the December quarter of last year.
PropTrack senior economist and report author, Angus Moore, said “The current alarming state of rental affordability is a substantial deterioration from conditions before and during the pandemic. Rents nationally are up 48% since pre-pandemic, while typical household incomes have only increased 19% in the same period.
Locally the median rental cost for Renmark sits at $390 per week, nearly $150 per week more than in 2020.
