They’ll soon be further public housing options in the Riverland.
This week the State Government released an update on regional public housing projects, which revealed six new houses are currently under construction in Renmark.
A further four are contracted to be built in Loxton, with a further three also contracted to be built in Berri.
The projects across the state mostly fall under the $177.5M State Government investment under the Public Housing Improvement Program (PHIP), which is funding more than 430 new public homes in Adelaide and regional SA.
State Housing Minister, Nick Champion said Rental vacancies are incredibly low in many regional centres which places increasing financial pressure on low-income households.
“These new builds in our regions are creating vital public housing whilst also stimulating jobs and injecting significant funding into the local economies”.
On top of the new builds, further maintenance and upgrades have been completed at Housing Trust properties in Waikerie & Barmera.
