A man has been arrested following alleged copper pipe thefts in the Riverland.
It’s alleged between the 22nd and 25th of March a 36-year-old local man stole copper pipes from a property on the Karoonda Highway in Loxton.
It’s further alleged the man then stole water meters and fuel cans from a Loxton North property between 6th and 24th of March.
He’s been charged with several offences, including serious criminal trespass, theft, unlawful possession and was expected to appear in court yesterday.
Police say the theft of copper is a widespread problem for public utilities and services, private companies, the building industry and scrap metal businesses.
They’re now urging the public to be on the lookout and report any suspicious behaviour, day or night, to the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 immediately.
