Stronger calls for wine grape mandatory code

While still unpacking the details, Riverland Wine have welcomed a number of key recommendations made in a wine industry grape purchase code Senate inquiry.

In a brief update, the local industry group outlined they have been heavily involved with the Senate Inquiry, with that report handed down last Friday.

Riverland wine added further that they were happy with a number of key points raised, including the recommendation to introduce a mandatory code of conduct and the release of grape prices in a timelier manner.

For now the code remains voluntary, with the 100 page report making further recommendations to support producers.

The Riverland is SA’s largest wine region by volume by some margin, making up around 30% of the nation’s wine grape production each year.
