Smoke concerns

Smoke seen in the Riverland from fires interstate is being monitored by the CFS.

Large fires in Victoria, combined with current weather patterns has seen smoke travel across the Riverland, with it likely to be around for the next few days.

The CFS say they are aware of the smoke, and if anyone sees flames or thick smoke plumes, to call Triple Zero immediately.

Locals who may have health concerns associated with Bushfire smoke and are looking to minimise the effect from exposure are advised to.

  • Stay indoors with windows and doors closed, or
  • If possible stay in air-conditioned premises switching the air-conditioner to ‘recycle’ or ‘recirculate’ to reduce the smoke coming inside
  • Avoid vigorous activities, especially if you have Asthma or other chronic lung or heart conditions
