Works to rebuild Berri’s flood damaged Riverview Drive are set to commence next month.
The road suffered significant damage during the 2022/23 River Murray Flood after the road was used as the base of a flood levee.
A like-for-like rebuild was endorsed by Council last year following community response indicating the desire for the project to be funded externally.
Via a statement this week, Berri Barmera Council CEO Tim Pfeiffer said the upcoming works were long-awaited.
“We know that the community has waited a long time for this reconstruction to begin and we thank Riverview Drive residents and road users for their patience,”
“It has been important to find a solution that is in line with broad community preferences, is cost effective and can be predominantly externally funded.” Said Mr Pfeiffer.
Late last year the scope of the project was extended to cover the rebuild from Clarke Road though to the Fenwick Road intersection.
The project is expected to take three months to complete and is being overseen by Riverland-based business, Scherer Contractors.
